Zom sheep are an indigenous sheep breed in Turkey. It is a local type of Akkaraman breed grown in the Diyarbakir region. Te sheep are hardy
and are able to thrive on poor vegetation and adverse climatic conditions. Furthermore they have been found to be highly prolifc with high
ofspring efciency.
Tank you to Prof. Durak from the Dicle University in Turkey for providing the pictures which feature on the covers of this journal. An article
on the biochemical parameters of this strain of sheep is presented by Prof. Durak, in this edition of the journal.
